Okay back from the USA, and what a blast it has been. We couldnt possibly have hoped or prayed for anything better than what we experienced in the 6000 miles and 4 weeks we spent on the east coast of America.
Very soon we will have a full tour diary with tons of pics up.
We made it back to SA just in time to play our slot at Uprisings last week. Good times! What a great show and welcome back present! Best show ever???
Our next show is in Gauteng next weekend. As usual we are totally psyched on rocking the inner lands. Great people, great friends, good mosh pits! We will be going crazeeeee so please bring your friends.
After this we wont be playing much as we have to knuckle down on recording our album. We want it out on the streets in Summer so we can play the songs off it all over the country on tour.
26 June, 2006
All set for the tour. Dates and shows are looking HOT!!
We have a new shirt created specially for it too, check the merch page.

Well things have been going really well. You will have noticed we have been playing less shows lately while we write and rehearse new songs for our new album. Its release will be in September this year, maybe sooner if we can get stuff really happening. 3 more songs to write and we're ready to roll.
We will all be at Burn this Saturday 6 May in support of the Animal Abuse benefit CD launch. We have our newest recording, SNAKES IN OUR LAPS on there for exclusive release. This is the only place you will get the song so please support this. R50 at the door gets you a CD and entrance to the show. Cant beat that!!
After this our next show will be at Witchfest 2006, May 27th. A nice heavy lineup of bands, we promise to set the night on fire!
As far as our tour to the USA goes, dates are being worked on by our friends over there. Soon we will post the full itenary - for everyone mailing us asking!! It should be done and set in stone in 3 weeks. For now we can confirm we will be playing in Atlanta, Tennessee, Alabama, and Illinois (June 26 - July 25).

28 March, 2006
Good news! We will be in Johannesburg 7 & 8 April for shows with our family: Reason to Live, Unwritten Friday, Maninsuit, Bloodline, F..eTc, and more! Thank you to the awesome TeamReason for squeezing us onto the bill. These shows are going to be mental!!!

We had a lot of fun playing our new song, SNAKES IN OUR LAPS, for the first time - and going by the feedback so did you! You can get this song on an upcoming Animal Abuse benefit CD being released on 6 May - see our shows page for the details and other upcoming throwdowns.
Other than that, yes the word is true... we are working on getting a mini tour of the USA finalised in June/July. We are also hoping to be able to play a slot on the new band showcase at the Cornerstone Festival and have made application to play one of the side stages on the Warped Tour . New versions of our latest 2 recordings are now available for download. 'Just like Ethiopia only better dressed', and 'We are slowly becoming replicas of Ourselves', have been re-recorded with Ray doing the vocals now.

20 February, 2006
The past weekends weather was easily the most forbiddable weather one could ever have an open air festival in. Incredibly hot and humid with minimal shade to hide in, and not a breath of wind. NEVERTHELESS, a lot of kids turned out with no complaints!!
Kicking off at 10am, the bands played non-stop until 5pm, when the perfectly timed clouds started rolling in and some light rain came down. Bands that stood out on the day were Arcasia, Seconds Lost, Breaking Even, His Dying Wish and the 60's rock of Cold Tea. All the bands seemed to have really good sets though. Our session in the late afternoon seemed to come through tighter than our last gig so we were pretty happy with the way things went.
Our new shirts are being snapped up quite readily, and the combat caps are also proving really popular. If you would like to get your hands on our cap or pin badge, the Revolution store in Gateway is kindly stocking them for us.
Our next show is in Pinetown, and then we are journeying up to play for the Richards Bay militia! The details are right here.

17 February, 2006
Just added some new pictures from our show on 30 January at Durbans Catalina Theatre.
This weekend we are playing an open air all day, all ages show at Durbans North beach skate park.
Other shows coming up will be in Pinetown and Richards Bay. Please check the shows page for all the details.
In the band room we are busting out some crazy new songs, wanting to get them recorded and released on an album come June 2006 - thats the dream at least!!!!
27 January, 2005
Gig alert! This Monday 30 January be at the Catalina Theatre in Wilsons Wharf for a throwdown of note with Crossingpoint and the Rising End. All the details are on the shows page. Its all ages so bring your parents, and dress smart, haha.
Check the new pictures from our first show we played this year at the Winston.
26 January, 2005
Pictures up from the weekend in Gauteng. Big thank you to the photographers Simon & Rochelle
for some truly great pics! More to come!
24 January, 2005
Big thanks to Jonno & Meghan for running our merch and loading gear in and out of the venues for us this last weekend. Your ever positive thankless work made things that much easier on the entire band this weekend.

23 January, 2005
Crossingpoint had the best tour ever this weekend. The shows were amazing. The people we stayed with and helped us out were fantastic (Ryan, Jaco and Team Reason), and the support and friends we met and made were just to good to be true. The family is growing tighter and stronger so quickly!
The tour report by Will from The Rising End pretty much says it all for us.
Pictures from both events will be up later this week, and a bit later than that some video will be here too.
The Crossingpoint combat caps arrived just in time to be available at the JHB shows. They're still hot off the press so we dont have any pics for the merch page yet. Also need to show you what the new button badges and t-shirts look like!! It will all be updated soon!

Crazy crazy crazy. The only words we can think of for Friday night's show at the Winston. We're still reeling from the shock of so many people turning out to throwdown to some of Durban's noisiest positive bands. People were overflowing on the pavement, on the street... Insanity. If you came, thank you SO much for pulling through and being part of such a great night out. Later this week some pictures will be up from the show.
We will have a new shirt print available at our Gauteng shows this weekend. Can't wait to be in those big cities again. The band's on both bills are amazing too.

Big welcome to our new drummer, Richard Phipson! Awesome guy and fantastic drummer too. Some of you might know him as the ex-lead singer for local band the Armchair Generals. We couldnt have asked for a better partner in this group as we're all about similar ideals, music, but unfortunately have unique shoe sizes. Fantastic!
We're rehearsing really hard in order to be able to make the shows in JHB and PTA next month. Before that though keep your ear to the ground for an unadvertised show in Durban come early January. Expect to hear all our new material with maybe only one or two tracks from our album. It will be Ray's first chance at screaming his lungs out for you so come scream your lungs out back at him... tough job!

We are extremely proud to announce that Crossingpoint has 2 of our older tracks (Move and Words of the Unspoken) contributed to a cassette compilation released by the Russian label, SzSS.
"Something Must Be Done" compilation (6 political hc-punk bands from 6 continents: DAMAGE DEPOSIT, DFC, UCA, WORLD ON WELFARE, CROSSING POINT, WHEN MY AUTHORITIES FALL, 16 pg. booklet).
Contact ASAP if you would like a copy, we only have a few available at R10 a pop!
As some of you may have heard, Wesley (vocals) has decided to leave Crossingpoint. A mutual and friendly decision, no big story behind it at all really. He's been with us from the start which is back in 1998 can you believe it!??? Wesley was the man that did all the good artwork for our shirts and album too. Now he is concentrating on that artistic side more, outside of the band, as he has always wanted to follow that more passionately.
B
randon (guitar), Ross(bass), and Juan(drums) have already started working with a great new vocalist, by the name of Raymond. He's so new we don’t have a surname for him yet, or even a cool nickname to make him sound as rad as he is in the practise room. Just let it be said that this boy is gonna be dynamite on stage and recorded!!! Right now we are working exclusively on new songs with the goal of an album release early 2006. We should be doing our first shows come January 2006 too. So please look out for that and support us if you can.
We arent sure at all yet if we will be keeping the band name 'Crossingpoint' or even a corruption of it of some sort. We're currently just enjoying working together as guys in a small sweaty room, blowing our ears out every weekend.
Our latest 2 songs were recorded a few months back with Will Edgecumbe on 'guest' lead vocals. Will has been a long and hard working supporter of the band for years now, and has been working the merch for us for a good while now too. The songs were released on a split sampler with our sister Durban hxc act, The Rising End (who Will permanently sings for!), who also contribute 2 songs. This sampler has been handed out at local shows and when we bump into people who want one at shows we go to. The response to it has generally been pretty overwhelming, so we have done another run of discs. Drop us a mail and we can hook you up at R5 a pop just to cover the expenses of reproduction.
If you aren't in Durban or want to save yourself the wait for a simple CD-R with photocopied cover in the post, please go here to download the full content of the Crossingpoint portion of the split.
http://www.crossingpoint.za.net/demo
To get the Rising End's stuff, visit www.therisingend.com - it's all there for the taking!
Ross(bass) has finally started work on his new band, Last Chance to Dance, where he will be doing lead vocals. It features amongst other members, Hayden (guitar from Sibling Rivalry) and Richard (Armchair Generals vocals). Expect to hear something loud and inspiring. The band should be gigging around January too.

Here is a review of the Spermbirds/Crossingpoint show.
30 August, 2005
Last night we supported the Spermbirds, on tour from Germany.
For me personally it was an incredible experience to see and hear the Spermbirds as a band that I literally grew up with in punk rock, their lyrics inspiring me through hard times and on to good ones. Their words mean and will always mean so much to me on so many levels.
For Crossingpoint it was our tightest and best sounding show ever. Everything was perfect in everyway possible.
Thanks to all involved, especially Bill & Erick the tour managers, the sound and lighting guys for the night Megasound, the incredible crowd that turned out at this one of a kind event, and of course the Spermbirds, without whom I probably wouldn’t still be doing this.
- Brandon van Eeden

02 August, 2005
Uprisings went ok. But I'm sure we aren't the only band that can say the sound was atrocious. No fault of the organisers... it just seemed the guys running the PA were completely disinterested in our sound. They should be fined for not providing a quality service and their hire fees reduced. Thats the only way people like this will learn.
Anyway, Janneke and I are off to the USA for 3 weeks. We'll be in Louisiana, Florida (Warped Tour), and New Jersey (Hellfest!). When I come back we'll be sharing the Winston stage with the band closest to punk icon status in MY heart, The Spermbirds, all the way from Germany! Tickets are available from the venue, from Musikland in Glenwood, and from us if you drop us an email.

05 July, 2005
Witchfest this weekend was a good and well organised event. Our stage ran a little late but that was too be expected, and from what we could tell noone seemed to mind. We played last (headlined???) and gave the performance of our lives for what we thought was a really awesome crowd that was still there at 1am! Wish we had some photos, maybe some will follow soon.
Other news is that we are looking for a new singer to replace Wesley.
Now we'd like to take Crossingpoint to 'the next level' so to speak and so are in search of a committed and passionate person who identifies with what the band stands for, and can hopefully bring more of their ideas , values, and energy to our prescence.
Auditions are open for the next few weeks so if you're reading this and have what it takes, please contact us. As an established band thats relatively well known both here and internationally, we have some promising times ahead for you!

22 June, 2005
Live video of 'Urgency' this weekend at Hillbilly's is now up on the video page. Check it out it came out really well. Also added a few select frame grabs from the video to the pictures.
20 June, 2005
Pictures from this weekend's show in Port Shepstone are up in the pictures area . Video from the show will be up later this week as soon as the footage has been captured (Also look out for video of Reason to Live and The Rising End at the same show).
This Friday, be at Mandene Sports Club for another hard rocking show, and the weekend after that we'll be headlining the 2nd stage at Witchfest. Check the shows page for all the details
13 June, 2005
We started tracking for the 2 song split release on the weekend. First up was our new drummer Juan de Lange working with Brandon behind the PC on recording the drums.
It went very well indeed and we're well chuffed with the quality. Please check out our
studio diary and follow our progress. Not sure if everyone will find it interesting but maybe it will be to some of you!
31 May, 2005
This Winter we will have 2 new songs released on a split EP with Reason to Live. It will be put out by Give and Take Records in 7" vinyl and CDEP formats.
Video from our show on 28 May is now up on the videos page. Its really dark but we thought we'd get something new up there; the sound is pretty good though. Also a few frame grab pics from the video are on the pictures page.
30 May, 2005
The show on Saturday was very good. Great turnout to support all the bands: Creophagous, Karnage, The Rising End, and us. We'll have some video of a song from our set up this week, and maybe a few screengrab pics too (thanks very much to Janneke for her video camera and Mark for filming).
From mid June we're looking at a good set of rocking shows: Reason to Live, Misled, The Terrorists are all coming down to blast KZN!

10 May, 2005
Gig report by Yusuf from Lowprofile from our show on April 28:
"Crossingpoint were up first and the band, who describe themselves as Positive Hardcore, looked like they meant business right from the get go. I've seen Crossingpoint play a lot over the years and tonight, in my opinion, and I heard other people say it too, was the best show I've ever seen them play. The sound was incredible, probably the best sound of the whole night.
You could actually hear Wesley's sampler/keyboard thing, you could hear every note of Ross's bass guitar, Wesley jumped on the drumkit, Brandon gave him a few big brother looks and Chris's drumming was tighter than ever.
Wesley is such a good, likeable and animated front man and the whole Crossingpoint energy is very powerful and compelling when it's in full swing like it was tonight. As a band, Crossingpoint handle things very professionally. They've been going for a long time now, my Crossingpoint t-shirt says 'keeping it true since 1998', and they really are a world class band that deserves a lot more than they get. They've been through a few line-up changes, but the now well-established front line of Ross, Wesley and Brandon is definitely their best and most complete line up. Drummer Chris, also with Grind Rod Muse, has been around for a while too now. Crossingpoint use their music to spread a positive message and open a few people's minds and tonight they were awesome. The hardcore kids floor punched up a rabid storm of approval."
We'll have some video from the show up soon on the video page.

Wolves
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between 2 "wolves" inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:
"Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied:
"The one you feed."

Well hey we have been pretty quiet in updating this news page. There hasnt been anything worthwhile mentioning from the shows we have played, apart from the last one at the Winston and us being asked to play last. Less said about that the better. We currently don't have any shows lined up as we are concentrating all our efforts on recording for our first album! Sign up to our mailing list to stay informed of when this will be available. It's going really well and we're hoping for a release date towards the middle of the year on an as yet unconfirmed record label.

Another show confirmed. Please read this press release on the Uprisings Festival .
Other news is that we have finished all the tracking for our debut album at last. Currently busy with mixdowns and CD artwork which is both taking much longer than expected. Due to this we cant announce an 'official' release date yet, sorry. But we're aiming for it to be out this Spring.
Even bigger news is that we have a new member in the band. We welcome Ricky to the drum position. Chris (previous drummer) decided he had too many commitments (playing for 2 bands & a job which involved hectic shift work) in order to satisy our needs properly. We're still good buddies, but he's taking a rest from the music world for awhile.
Take a look at our upcoming shows. We're very excited for both of them! And we know you are too! Even a bigger plus is that BOTH are all ages! SEE YOU ALL THERE!
All going well, forthcoming shows may see us in Gauteng at the end of July courtesy of Wrench productions and Give & Take), and another show in Durban in September with new local band, Victory at Last

From Wrench Productions :
"Washington DC based record label, Dischord Records, have built for themselves an extremely enviable reputation of signing illustrious acts such as Fugazi and Minor Threat. Their latest and arguably most prodigious band, the revolutionary indie-rock act Q and Not U, have released a collection of work on the label, which has received brilliant reviews around the globe. Wrench Productions are proud to announce that they are bringing Q and Not U to South Africa for a national tour in July/August this year.
This tour will also see all of South Africa's prime punk and hardcore bands tearing the stage apart at SA's top venues like never before.
After extensively touring the US, Europe, Canada and Japan, Q and Not U are set to awe South African audiences as they "kick down the walls, collapse the floor and torch the basement to hell with their energetic rock" (Pop Matters, Music Critic). Having been described as its own genre, sound, and even mode of communication, Q and Not U's innovative brand of rock music has been making waves internationally since their inception in 1998, their live performances leaving audiences dumbstruck. Their music proudly bears its deep punk influences whilst at the same time avoiding categorising itself, with something new and unexpected happening at every talented turn.
The fact that this indie band has played with greats such as the Pixies, Radiohead and Kraftwerk speaks for itself. As their South African tour draws ever nearer, audiences in all major South African cities wait in anticipation of Q and Not U's portentous punk-rock performances. You've heard the facts, now go see them for yourself!

BRIDGING THE GAP NO.4 (charity event)
Hey Everyone!
I hope everyone's new year is going great! I would just like to let everyone out there know about the upcoming BRIDGING THE GAP coming up this weekend in Durban which is on the 31st of Jan!
This is a charity event and it's R10 entrance if you bring a can of food or R20 if you just bring yourself. This is the fourth annual BTG (BRIDGING THE GAP) and this is going to be the 2nd time we are doing it for charity....It was a great feeling being a part of the last charity event as we got to help the community...so it's with great pleasure to be apart of this once again.
This year we are having it at THE RED ROOM. This is a really cool “entertainment” room for the Hillcrest Fellowship youth. It boasts 2 stages with radical old school foozeball and pool tables as well as the indoor mini half pipe which is often used when it's raining in the area. There is also a tuck shop so all ages are welcome as no alcohol is allowed.
For this gig we have CROSSINGPOINT( positive hardcore/punk), EMANATE (A new christian rock band), NO TUCK MONEY (skate punk) and TWO FLY (a great nu metal band with all members representing the coloured community). We also have a guest appearance which will be our good friend Kai from the church who will be busting out some songs on his acoustic in between some of the bands sets.....Merch will be on sale as well.
Some of the photo's here are shots from one of our last BTG's so it's always loads of fun!!
Check out the map here if you need directions but it's pretty easy to find: If you coming from Durban/Westville/Pinetown head on the M13 up fields hill and go past Kloof and Gillitts and take the Hillcrest off ramp. At the intersection turn right (You're now on the old main road). Head straight and go through 3 intersections. On the fourth intersection you'll see Inanda road going to your right and opposite you there is a Steers and Debonair's. Turn right into Inanda road and just go straight for about 4km until you see Fischer road on your left! That's it you've found it and Hillcrest fellowship is on the corner. Drive through to the back of the church to the school field and you'll either hear rad music or loads of kids skating outside or hanging about and you'll know you're at the place!! If you get lost phone Ross on 082 7200172
Cool, thanks for reading this we hope to see you at the gig! And bring a can of food!!!

For all those interested crossingpoint have just come back from playing a couple gigs in Joburg this weekend. What can we say it was really awesome to be back in Joburg and to see familiar faces once again. It was so great to see all of of them again, as well as all the new friends we met! JHB is definitely crossingpoints home away from home. It has consistently blown us away in terms of turnout, support, passion, and enthusiasm. The city has a 100% strong thriving scene.
Take a look at the new pictures here
Our first gig was at Carfax which reminded us of the BAT centre in Durban by the harbour but we were corrected by the owner as she was walking past, that the Bat centre actually copied them!!! haha. Oops, sorry Miss Carfax but it is a great venue with a huge stage and it’s a really viby/arty place. The stage at a Carfax might be a bit too big in ideal terms (6 feet high) for a hardcore band but this would be a perfect place to have tonights show take place...
Carfax was to be the venue for the infamous Mad Circle Punk/Ska event. We have played 2 of these fests before, and they have always been huge crowd pullers so we were very excited to play! Bands were Fuzigish, Shifty, Ill Audio, Humphrey the Tea Cup, and us!
Well as expected a huge crowd turned out on the night and it was a really cool evening...Shifty must be the tightest band we have ever seen and they have improved a zillion times since the last time we saw them. Guess it’s ‘cos they’ve been overseas and seen the standard over there.....well done guys!! And then we hammered through our 30 min set pretty solidly and had loads of fun.
Fuzigish's set was their first show fresh back from their European tour which by all accounts went a lot better than the last one.
Shout outs to JP Fuzman for organizing such a stirling event and starting the MAD CIRCLE punk rock tradition. May it never cease. Apparently a Mad Circle compilation CD is in the works with tracks by all the bands that have played at a Mad Circle event in the past.
Now after all that, the Saturday nite gig was highly anticipated!. It was at Bohemians in Melville , a smaller venue which was refreshing cos we like packing kids into small spaces and making 'em sweat!
Well, this gig was the Kiddie Fiddlers launch and turned out to be yet another gobsmacking event. Lots of people came out and this reminded me of the previous Mad Circle’s we’ve played.(ARE the punk gigs always this cool up there?) And surprize, surprize we had the same sound guys from the nite before. Durban: You need to go to a local show in Joburg and see how these guys operate: Huge sound system, kiff lights and very professional!! Thanks to the sound guys for being super good and pro!!!
The bands that played that evening were The terrorists, 2 strikes against, crossingpoint, Mr Smug and Kiddie Fiddlers. Wow!! what can we say? We have never seen such a passionate band like 2 strikes against in a very, very long time. What a awesome band!! These guys have a lot of talent and positive hardcore energy!!!! The singer reminds of how sick of it all were when they started out!!! A GOOD THING!
It was once again awesome to play with our coastal friends, Mr Smug, who are on the Amazing DisasTOUR with ATFN at this very moment, and have a great melodic album out so check them out (www.mrsmug.co.za). Their new songs have a slightly harder edge which was really enjoyed.....
We got to see Neil from the GIVE & TAKE distro and saw some really cool stuff on sale like the Walkie Talkie comic, this is a really cool comic done by a punk kid so check it out.
We really enjoyed playing this show as the crowd response was terrific. During our chaos on the stage we seemed to see a lot of people watching and throwing down, as well as kids outside coming in closer to enjoy the set and to see what we were about. Thanks!!! Last up was the Kiddie Fiddlers...this band consists of members from Dunnaway and if we're not mistaken members from The Evil Eddies as well. Well it was their nite for sure and they got the dance floor going too!! Hope you all checked out their new C.D.?
A big thanks goes to Wrench productions for setting up such a awesome event. Special thanks go to Patrick for letting us stay at his house and swimming in his pool as well as Lord Zoltan for doing an amazing flyer (keep up the work bru). Of course we cannot forget Roy as well for getting involved in the Punk scene and starting Wrench productions with friends: You rule. Words cannot express our thankfulness for your involvement in the scene and making things happen!!
Thanks for everyone for coming to the gigs..it was really awesome. Thanks to all the bands and the sound guys and all the people that bought so many shirts, hung out with us and were generally all round good guys....we’ll see you soon!!
IAnd then take a look at www.fold.za.net for some other T-shirts you can wear in place of that Nike one your friends rag you about.

From the show on Friday 3rd October at Burn in Durban with Blood Island Raiders (UK), you can now download the full length video for one of .crossing.point's newer songs 'ICEBERGS'.
Including fast downloading FLASH previews, you can get it all from our video page:
We will be taking a break until about late November as we will be concentrating writing new material and teaching Chris, our new drummer, some of our other songs. The sound of the band is progressing, with the use of our sequencers and keyboard taking things to a new level of intensity. The website will also be upgraded with a whole lot of new graphic's with new lyric's and photo's and lots of other idea's soon...
PLANS
Once we are happy with our new songs we will be recording an album and playing your town again soon!!! We are at the moment deciding on recording two songs for an overseas straightedge/punk/hardcore compilation where we do one cover and one original...we are thinking of doing "guilty of being white" by Minor Threat or Snapcase's "incarnation"...Wesley is also thinking of doing an electronic remix version of either of those songs with Brandons guitar riffs - just to be different as I don't think anyone's done a minor threat remix!!!?? This song will be available when our new site is up and running....
FUTURE SHOWS
1.We are very excited and proud to be getting back to Gauteng this Summer to join in the epic event we all know as MAD CIRCLE. The date is Friday 5th December, and the venue is CarFax in downtown Johannesburg. Other bands on the bill include our good friends FuziGish & Shifty. Be there.
2. Look out for a possible all ages charity show in late November in the Hillcrest area. "Militia GEAR UP!"
3. Our phenomenally hard rocking and all round good guys from Cape Town, TOYLAND, will be on a national tour promoting the long awaited release of their debut album "With Every Breath" (on Witch Doctor Records). The KZN dates aren't set yet but we'll be joining them for some insane shows in Natal!
30 September, 2003
Hope all is well....Just to let you guys and girls out there know that we are playing 2 gigs this weekend.
We are all really excited and nervous as we will be playing with our new drummer. Can you believe that he’s our sixth!! We are happy to say that he has picked up the songs pretty quickly compared to our “experience” with other drummers. However we will be only be playing a short set as we have only been playing with him for a month or so. But expect a powerful “electric” set as we won’t have to conserve our energy during our short set!! ;)
DOUBLE ROCK BONANZA: Our first gig is on this Friday (3rd October) at Burn (corner of Clark/Umbilo) at 10pm. We will be opening for British band Blood Island Raiders (UK) who are on a S.A tour as we speak!! Look out for other shows that they will be playing in your town, and visit their site www.bloodislandraiders.com to hear just how heavy they are!
On the same night next door, our friends Mr Smug are playing at the Winston. This means Double Rock Bonanza! So come check out both bands and others on one night!!
The next show we are playing is BIG DAY OUT on the Saturday (4th October) at Point Yacht Club by the North Pier Durban Waterfront. This show is going to be awesome!! We were asked to play by Damelin and Allenby Campus. It is a charity gig with loads of other bands. Some of the bands we will be sharing the stage with will be Waverly and Cynosure. It’s going to be starting in the late afternoon around 4pm. It’s situated near the point Waterfront which is a really cool area to hang out/flea markets and if you’re into skating there are some rad skate spots as well......
So if any of you guys and girls want to come check it out we’d love to see you!! We still have a couple shirts and stuff for sale so we will have our merchandise on sale as well at the shows....this will probably be our last gig for a while as we want to concentrate writing new songs and possibly a recording sometime soon.
Thank you to everyone around the country for supporting us - you guys rock!!

But..... in the meantime, we have a show on Friday. What we live for! Playing live! Friday Night Frenzy! The last one rocked big time! Probably one of the most fun and exciting shows we have played in Durban! And the cool thing is , we get to do it again ! Its 100% free, open air, and ALL AGES, so bring your mom & dad too! There's a skate compo with rad prizes up for grabs so bring your skateboard as well.
There are still a few of the new TSHIRTS on sale. We have reprinted the EAGLE design on GREY shirts. It looks killer! and will set you back only R50. Hook up with us at the venues or mail us to work out a postage option.

Hope all is well wherever you are!!! Here is some news on Crossingpoint.
First up, we just want to say thanks for everyone that has supported us, all the emails - EVERYTHING!
Well, hopefully anyone reading this should know about our tour coming up soon with MOSSFET from Holland. We are all very excited about the tour. It's been hard work organizing the dates, setting up posters and distributing them. A big "respect" goes out to Brandon for doing so much for the tour...it's so hard to be a D.I.Y. band!!
We won't be on the JHB leg of the tour as our drummer will still be on his mission trip in Zimbabwe but we will be joining the Holland Heroes in our home Town Durban at Burn.
(see www.startafire.co.za for dates, music, info, forums etc) We'll be then heading down the coast and will be stopping at all major towns...so it should be awesome!!! We will be finishing off the tour in Cape Town and I am really excited about this as I love that city so much!! I think it must be one of nicest places that God created!! We are hoping to see the friends we made last time round and we hope to make some more!!! Ross (our bassist) is bringing along our good friend Matt and overall good guy along with us. He's going to be Photo documenting the tour as a project for his photography course he's doing at Rhodes. So if you want to be in it make sure you come along to one of the shows....Hopefully we'll be putting them up on the website soon after!!!
That's all the news I have for now, we hope to see you on the tour.

Durban recently had the pleasure of 2 great international bands playing here:
Friday 7th march saw THE HAUNTED pummel into obvlivion every concept of heaviness and power us Durbanites thought we had. Fantastic sound system and big ups to http://www.witchdoctorrecords.com for organising a truly truly once in a lifetime event. THE HAUNTED play HUGE festivals and shows overseas and we got to see them up close and even talk the guys afterwards. The singer used to be in FACEDOWN!!!??
FRENZAL RHOMB popped in on Tuesday 11 March. Not our cup of tea obviously, but a classic band and fun to experience. Great personalities. Funny story of the gig is that the singer won R100 000,00 at Sun City!!! Awesome. OR could it be an URBAN LEGEND.
Introducing one of their songs, the singer cracked us up by announcing "AND NOW FOR THE GENERIC FAT WRECKORDS DRUM BEAT..." !!! hahaha. And right he was... It came blasting through. Loads of fun these okes.
21 February, 2003
Brandon has asked me to write some “news” for everyone who cares a little about what’s going down in our little world so here goes....
First up, thanks to everyone who has been so supportive of our band over the years and especially the past year....!!!
Well, I think at the moment we are all pretty happy. It seems that all the members in the band will be staying around for a while which is a good thing considering we have had so many line-up changes. Also, the last couple gigs have been tremendous for us. A lot of people seem to be open to our music which has been really cool (thank you guys and girls!).
As some of you might know, we are working on a full length album and I think it’s going to be cool....the songs we have written has been a real pain to write (especially with 4 guys in a little room that’s over 30 degrees in the summer...we practically lose 10 kg’s with all the sweat me and Clive do at practice sessions.... The new songs that we have written is a little different to our other stuff. The music is definitely not typical metal core or Hardcore or whatever. Clive is also teaching me to sing in key and a little melodic too which is good, the whole band is doing back-up singing as well which gives us more depth and “power”. Clive is adding so much to the band with his beautiful “sting” sounding vocals....
Other news is that I am still looking for a keyboard and sampler for the band to add a little variety but by the time I get that we will properly have recorded...
Concept of Album: Well, I am still throwing ideas around for everyone to think about but here are some of the ideas. For sure I am going to be doing some artwork for the band. I’m going to be doing these gigantic paintings that will be an interpretation of the lyrics that I write and when we release the album we’re going to have an exhibition of all the work. We’re thinking of doing it at the “arty” place in Florida road. I am also going to be doing some photography for the artwork as well....I’ll keep that one a secret though.....
The main idea for the album was that it was going to be something on the lines of a diary written by a young kid who has written about his thoughts of the world. I had ideas of designing a “diary” type feel for the C.D....the other idea was calling the album something like “Time capsule 1989” and the C.D would be presented in the way of a time capsule....the album is a social crit on our planet so I thought this was a cool way to present our ideas. I think this would be better way than just presenting it as a typical Hardcore C.D with all of us jumping with our guitars on the back C.D cover.......hmmm?
Other news: Ross (our bassist) and all time good guy Will Rollins are releasing their 2nd issue of their fine zine (VITAZINE) and has tons of band interviews....check it out at the next show...
That's all from me...Wes.

We've made available 2 straight edge TV 'commercials'. They are brilliant!. Go to the bottom of the videos page now!
4 December, 2002
It was definitely the largest number of people we had played for, and the craziest pit action - and this is counting both our Woodstock appearances and this years Splashy Fen. However, it was also the smallest PA system we had ever played through, haha, so the sound wasn't brilliant, but it rocked just the freaking same. Nice size stage, we could all move around and knock things down nicely. In case you dont what this iis about, it was our last show at FRIDAY NIGHT FRENZY! Big props to Stev (Roshdag), and Graeme for organising such a smooth amazing event for the youth.ead the full review by Wesley here.

Wow. What a great turnout at Fridays gig in Hillcrest! Im sure there must have been at least 300 people in the room when we played? Pity about the stage falling apart within the first 10 seconds of our the first song. It obviously wasnt built to withstand the rigours of 5 flying band members and some of the nsanest Durban pit action we've seen in ages. Good to see that Lawnmower Hardcore is growing too. Thanks to Ross's dad for the loan of his grass cutting machine for the night.
This weekend we're finally off to Cape Town for 2 great shows with our friends, Neshamah, Aftertaste, Hog Hoggidy Hog, and more. We've been wanting to do this for years, and at last its finally come together. To say we're excited would be an understatement (For our international visitors, Cape Town is a 20 hour bus trip and 2000 km away from Durban, our home town).
New on the Sounds page is a FAST streaming Flash MP3 player. You can listen to all our recodings live in the browser. You just need to click the link and wait 10 seconds before you hear the NOIZE.
New in the Videos section is a live one of a song called 'No Idea of Sound'. 3 formats are available. This was filmed at Burn the night we played with Aftertaste on the Durban leg of their national tour.
 04 September, 2002
We're going to Cape Town !!!! At long last we're doing a tour to the 'Mother City', currently dubbed the 'home of hardcore' hahah. We are VERY EXCITED about the shows to SAY THE LEAST! We'll be doing 3 shows over 3 nights. 2 in Cape Town itself, and one at the NEwsong festival in MOssel Bay. Please check the Shows page for the details, but some shows are presently being finalised so check back soon for the nitty gritty, or sign up to our mailing list

Boom! Announcing our finalised new lineup:
Clive van Eeden : drums
Lee Barnes: Guitar
Ross Turpin: Bass Guitar
Wesley van Eeden : vocals
Brandon van Eeden : guitar
Clive is the cousin of Wesley and Brandon. So yep, we're keeping it 'in the family' pretty much, haha.
So, we've been hard at work in the rehearsal room doing new tunes. We will be presenting these, along with a few select 'oldies' at our first show in ages at Burn with Aftertaste who are up from Cape Town on a national tour. See our shows page for details.
Haven't done anything about recording as yet, as we are stoking on the new tracks! But soon, soon...!
 21 May, 2002
Line up wise we seem to have found a good replacement drummer. We are still in rehearsals with him, so we won't announce his name just yet. But we can definitely say that we are gelling with him the most we have ever with any of our previous drummers. We now also have Lee Barnes moving from bass to 2nd guitar, and new boy Ross 'too new to know his surname' in on bass guitar. With this line-up we are working solely on new tunes, and its very likely that we will not be doing many of the older songs anymore. We need to move forward!
Look out for a 4/5 track 7" EP to be pressed in Zimbabwe for us, in the region of 1000 copies, and distro'ed throughout Europe. This will contain the new songs we have done, since our first EP, 'The path Less Travelled' - The track list isnt final but here goes: "Upgrade", "This is for Real", "Disaster Strikes", "The Deconstruction Project", and "Breaking the Boundaries (instrumental)"
Sign up for our very sparse mailing list to be informed when we have it out.

Splashy fen was great! It was the first time any of the band members had been out to this once renowned 'hippie' festival .Its South Africa's longest running music festival so it has quite a reputation and is quite a crowd puller. This year though the organisers had brought in a good selection of local rock, punk, and metal bands. The Splashy fen website might still have the details up there.
We decided to get there nice and early for a change, as the venue is really close to us Durbanites. Unlike woodstock (which we have played 2 years in a row already) which is almost to Johanneburg. We rocked inlate on Thursday evening, after an exciting night drive which involved nearly running out of petrol in the middle of nowhere, and going up and down very dark dust roads looking for the non-existent 'this way to Splashy fen' sign.
We were billed as the 'headline' act on the BLUNT stage on Friday night, so we had a nice relaxing Friday checking out other bands, putting our posters up all over the place, and swimming in the freezing river.
We used a Henry Rollins spoken word piece ("I Know You") as an intro to our short (as always) set. 6 songs later we were ready to try our new song, 'The Deconstruction Project', as the finale. We had only played this once at practise, so we weren't too sure about it.. But heck we're a punk band so we just went for it. And voila! pulled it off!
The Saturday night had SA's ska stompers, FuziGish, headlining. What a great way to end off a truly fantastic camping and music experience.
 28 March, 2002
Okay, here's the lowdown on whats happening with crossingpoint lately.
Grant is back behind the kit with us for a one or two more shows. Most notably our appearance at the upcoming SplashyFen music festival. We're still searching for a permanent drummer though. So if you know anyone in the Durban area who is enthusiastic and passionate, get them talking to us!
Splashy Fen weekend is Thursday 25 April - Sunday 28 April 2002. We play at 11pm on Friday 26 April. Expect a BEEG sound, and a lot of gnashing of teeth. Our buddies Sibling Rivalry, FuziGish, The Phoebes, SideShow, AK Massive, and Fruit Fly Navigators will also be at Splashy for some shows: This page lists their appearance times: http://www.c-weed.com/html/gig_guide.asp
NEW VIDEO:
The video for Burn the Flames (of injustice) has finally been converted from VHS to MPEG format and uploaded to the website. Its was produced quite some time ago, but definitely a great video with a message. Expect to see a broadcast quality professional production if you take the time (and bandwidth) to download it. The size is a little big, but it had to be in order to appreciate it fully.
And welcome to a new guy in the group: Lee Barnes joins us on bass for awhile. Why for awhile??? Keep your head on for this, because he will be moving to 2nd guitar shortly when we pull in yet another new guy on bass! Thats right, Lee will be bringing some fresh musical ideas into the mix, and crossingpoint will eventually become a 5 piece powerhouse of a band!
Our latest Tshirt (eagle design) has almost sold out. We dont do reprints, so if you still would like one please contact us. There are only Medium and Large sizes left.
Coming soon, and very hush hush, is our first 'official' release of recorded material. 3 tracks on a slab of plastic should be available from a distro near you soon. We hope to be recording the tracks in April. Thats the easy part. A month or 3 after that, we may have a few 100 copies of noise ready to ship out to you'all.

Our last show with Leek and the Bouncing Uptones was truly a great success! Great turnout, great crowd response and all importantly, crowd participation! We have a few pics from this show up on the pictures page. We sold a few of the new Tshirts which was an added plus. Everyone seemed to really like the design. If you are interested in getting one, take a look at the goods page, and contact us.
Another update on the site is some pics from the show before that, back in 2001. Yep, we only just got the film developed now. This was in Hillcrest (Bridge the Gap 2) which was with OverThrow and the AK Massive. Those are also on the pictures page.
We are rehearsing with some new members in the band now. As soon as things are final we'll annouce them!
Our Singer Wesley, entered a 'competition' to come up with a design for a Tshirt that will be given away during a charity skate competition this year..He's made it to the Top 32, his is the second to last design on the page... The Manga Type Girl...

If you take a look at the judges, right at the bottom, this is pretty darn good going!
There are no prizes for the winner (charity), just maybe some international exposure! But lets root for him.

We have new T-shirts on the way!!!! As usual there are limited quantities available so if you would like one, please contact us to reserve it. Take a look at the design on the goods page
Also up are some new pics. We took them outside the Tusk Inn in Rossburgh, before a gig. The bus in the background seems to be from China or something. Check them out on the pictures page. Now if only we had public transport like THAT in Durban....
And yo, MOPUNK is coming!

Well, we have roped in our last drummer Grant 'mouldy' McNulty to play drums for us at the next show with Leek. This is a relief cos we honestly thought we weren't going to make it. Plus he was with us the longest and rocks!
Other than that, have a cool holiday season! Best wishes for the new year.

At last we finished the final mix and mastering of Disaster Strikes! It's only one song folks, not an entire album haha. Check out the audio page for the brand new mix. If you already downloaded the rough mix before, and like the song, it's highly recommended you get the final mix. The guitar bits have been redone, and the overall production is top notch. Our first pro recording EVER, woo! It almost sounds like a different song....
On to some sad news though. Once again we are faced with the daunting task of replacing a drummer. Things with Rory haven't been working out (traveling distance, musical direction, dedication). We bid him farewell.
On a plus side though, we have a show coming up! (Exactly who is going to hit the drums remains to be seen!). Leek and the Bouncing Uptones are coming down from Pretoria to blast us all with some ska punk tunes. Get the info on the shows page...

Bridge the Gap rocked! Thanks to all the people that came! I think there must have been around 100 people crammed into that little room. No wonder we were breathing sweat! Read the Bridge the Gap Review by Brandon. No definite shows lined up as yet for the future. Stay tuned.

This weekend we have a show! Are we amped for this or what! Everyone has finished exams at last. Also, we may be getting access to a permanent practice room built by Durban metal rockers Crystal Fury. So things are definitely looking good at last. We started work on a new track at the last practice as well.
Friends, keep tabs on the shows page. So far we have one confirmed, this weekend. Coming up though are possible dates of the 15th December with Sideshow and The Mystery Girls, a string of gigs on the weekend of the 11th January 2002 with Leek who will be down in Durban and Pietermaritzburg with us, and some shows in Durban with Fuzigish being confirmed for late February 2002.
A new T-shirt design is definitely in the works for December as well.

Thanks a million to Chris Saunders (the camera man) from Johannesburg, who sent in a bunch of rad photos he took of us when we were up there for Mad Circle. They're up right here .
In case you're wondering when we're playing again... We're finalizing a few dates in December/January very soon.
Otherwise, we are still on the lookout for a permanent rehearsal room, carting the .crossing.point noise gear back and forth is killing us! We have a ton of carpet tiles just begging to be used on some lucky room's walls and ceiling.
Recording wise, we are contemplating putting out a new CD EP and a possible vinyl version as well.
Before that though, a new remixed and remastered version of 'Disaster Strikes' will be available here soon. We're going to re-record the vocals and guitar parts for it this weekend.

Right, back from Woodstock 3. This was just as good as Mad Circle. We ended up playing an hour later die to the BLUNT stage being an hour behind schedule for the day. No problem. This worked out pretty cool, cos we ended up playing as it got dark - nice touch. The crew from JHB were out front in the pit in full force! The stage was as big as most venues we usually play at, so we tried to make full use of the space. What a pleasure. For once we could move around without clashing guitars or stabbing Wesley in the eye... Anyway, there was an excessive amount of dust being kicked up in the mosh pit which we're still recovering from. This made for some 'cool' lighting effects(?) but completely ruined the photos! Check them out anyway...
The latest issue of Wesley's online fanzine - UNITED has just gone live. View it at : http://www.punk.co.za/users/united/. It has a bit more info on the happenings at Woodstock too.
Then this last weekend saw us do a gig at the infamous Tusk Inn. Well actually it was a practice If you were there you will know why, but chances are you weren't haha.

Woah! What a weekend! Mad Circle was an absolute blast .Yeesh, where to start???
Well, we very nearly had to cancel at the last minute due to record snowfalls across the mountains. Read the in-depth reports, with tons of pics, right here . We're gearing up for the Woodstock festival next weekend. After that we don't have any confirmed shows, we're going to concentrate on getting a new band room and working on a few new songs. About time!

Been getting lots of nice comments about our new site already! And people really going for the MP3's!
We leave for Johannesburg on Saturday morning for the MAD CIRCLE gig. We are so looking forward to this one because the first time we went to JHB was also for a MAD CIRCLE show and no-one knew us but people went berzookers, that was 2 years ago... In between that we have been up twice again, making this our 4th trip in total.
Behind the scenes we've also been trying to get our 'Burn the Flames' video played on TV. So far 'Simunye-we are one' have rejected it stating that it is "not inline with their target audience"... Nevertheless it has been passed on to the other channels.
5 FM radio DJ Barney Simon has been given a copy of 'Disaster Strikes'. Whether it gets played or not is up to him...? His words were "if it's of international quality I'll play it". We wait and see...
On Saturday 29 September we play the Woodstock Festival. Our time slot is officially 5.45pm-6.15pm. Expect 30 min. of bone crushing energy. If you'd like to see all the band performance times check out and print this handy guide.

Well our first show with Rory went off pretty darn well! The ever challenging Winston Hotel was the venue. We played first and so had sound checked last, thus having a good sound when we played later on. About 80 people came through the door which we were very impressed with as this was not really a highly publicized show! No Photo came on after us and impressed everyone with their melodic yet kick ass tunes. Old school rockers Enema rounded the evening off nicely.
The next day we moved down the coast to Amanzimtoti to play with Lush Puppy at Pepe's Place. Great venue and we had a great PA set up. Unfortunately we had minor problems on stage with tuning, sound, and other things. But still a worthwhile show. Handed out loads of flyers and got good responses from that. Hope to return here one day soon with new songs to conquer again!

Big welcome to Rory as our new drummer! We firmly believe in his potential and dedication. Although currently in his second last year of school, he fits in well with our musical vision, and is just as enthusiastic about promotion as well.
So, we confirmed our appearance at Woodstock a few days back. They haven't stipulated a time slot yet, but we'll be on the BLUNT stage on Saturday evening, 29 September 2001. This festival is a superb opportunity to play to a huge group of people who would otherwise not see us at a club gig. We're looking forward to it. Hopefully we will be doing 1 or 2 new songs.
We have been asked to leave our practice room at the BAT Centre "due to a lack of space". Quite a blow, as we've been there for over 3 years! We're not going to go into the details but we're pretty upset about the move. Our room is being given to an adjoining business to 'expand' into. So much for the BAT Centre supporting performing arts.

The search for a replacement drummer has been on for a month now. We were getting really down about it, but just this week, we came into touch with no less than 4 potentials! Everyone agrees that this should be the last drummer we have before calling it quits. It takes a lot of work, and patience, teaching someone old songs when all we want to do is go forward and write new stuff. This said, we're going to make sure that whoever we pick, is is the right dude!
We've been asked to play the Woodstock 3 music festival again this year. This happens the weekend of 29th September 2001. Not sure if we're going to be ready for it?
 1 July, 2001
Grant (drummer) is now in England on his annual 2 month holiday. Well, he did it last year as well, so its annual enough! But before he left, he let us know that he wont be able to continue playing with us. His reasons were valid, and we cant fault him as he is a great friend, drummer, and general bum (just like us!)
Its kinda funny that the last show we were supposed to play with him, we never actually played! The band and half the Durban punk scene ended up running after 2 muggers that did a bad thing to one of us that night... Needless to say, its a night no-one will forget!

What's on the cards?
We've got 5 new tracks ready to record. We're undecided as to whether we should record another EP, or hang on to them until we have a few more for a 'full length'.
Nevertheless we will be choosing one of the new tracks to record soon which will be part of 2 new LOCAL compilations. One produced by LightSleeper , will incorporate CD launches in each of the major cities featuring the locals bands on the release. Cool, another excuse for a ear blasting!
The other comp is being put out by Sonic Studios and local band the AK Massive.
More than likely we will contribute the same track to both. |
